Open education and social justice: Towards equitable access through participation

← Back to list of events
Recognising current inequities in terms of representation and access in the South African higher education system, this seminar takes an explicit social justice approach in terms of trying to identify and articulate open education approaches which improve equitable access to appropriate and relevant learning resources. The event will also serve as the launch of the UNESCO Chair in Open Education and Social Justice which was recently awarded to Associate Professor Cheryl Hodgkinson-Williams in recognition of her contribution in leading numerous ground-breaking research and implementation initiatives focused on open education in the Global South.
