Connecting the Opens: A Panel Discussion for the Future Professoriate

← Back to list of events

Each semester, graduate students in Virginia Tech's Future Professoriate Program are invited to explore the connections between open data, open science, open access, open education, and open educational resources with a panel of faculty and administrators from around the university. This event, hosted by the University Libraries aims to foster robust and informative discussion as we introduce future professors to concepts, issues, practices, and potentials of openness within the academy. This semester, we are joined by:

  • Karen DePauw, Vice President and Dean for Graduate Education
  • Steve Ellingson, Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Freddy Paige, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Tyechia Thompson, Post-Doctoral Associate, College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • Philip Young, Associate Professor and Institutional Repository Manager, University Libraries
  • Peter Potter, Director of Publishing, University Libraries
  • Anita Walz (Moderator)
