How an OER Twitter Chat Journal Club can extend your Personal Learning Network (PLN) #aboerjc #EducatorsAsLearners
← Back to list of eventsSince November 2018, the monthly #aboerjc twitter chat journal club has shared information about open education resources and practices (OER/P) with students and educators using a micro-blogging format. This format evolved from an Alberta based OER Community of Practice (CoP) that was creating ways to share expertise on evolving OER practices (http://131.232.13.243/howto). The journal club was based on traditional academic journal clubs (Deenadayalan, Grimmer‐Somers, Prior & Kumar, 2008; Banderob, 2018) that featured a F2F scholarly conversation on an academic article or issue. The monthly twit
er chat journal club extends this conversation through Twitter by sharing an OER/P based article/presentation and questions that both shares and invites discussion with students and educators. The chat occurs synchronously and asynchronously post-chat as many of our authors and participants live in very diverse time zones. #aboerjc has expanded our OER/P network and contact with other lively twitter chats.
